Hawaii secured its third NCAA men’s volleyball championship by defeating UC Irvine in a four-set match, winning 15-25, 25-18, 25-18, 25-20. Kristian Titriyski led the Rainbow Warriors with a match-high 16 kills, including the final point that clinched the title. After losing the first set, Hawaii (30-5) rallied to win three consecutive sets, setting a program record for most victories in a season. UC Irvine (21-9), which was aiming for its first championship since 2013, made its fifth appearance in the title match but fell short. The Rainbow Warriors displayed a strong offensive performance after the initial setback, hitting .481 in the final three sets and committing only eight attack errors.

Why It Matters

Hawaii’s victory marks its first championship since 2022 and highlights the strength of the Big West Conference, which has produced multiple national champions since 2018. This win adds to Hawaii’s historical achievements, showcasing its resilience by overcoming a slow start in the championship match. UC Irvine’s continued presence in the title match reflects the competitive landscape of collegiate men’s volleyball in the Big West, with the conference having at least one finalist for the past eight seasons. The Rainbow Warriors’ record-setting season illustrates the program’s growth and potential for future success in NCAA men’s volleyball.
