The Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas’s armed wing, released a video showing injured Israeli-Russian hostage Maxim Herkin, identified as “Prisoner 24,” who referred to upcoming Israeli Independence Day celebrations, suggesting the video was filmed recently. Herkin, captured during the October 2023 attack on Israel, appeared in a previous video in April and is among 58 hostages still held by Hamas, as the Israeli government continues military operations in Gaza to secure their release. Since the resumption of hostilities, the death toll has risen significantly, with over 52,000 casualties reported in the conflict.
