Hakainde Hichilema reinstated as president of Zambia after election dispute

President Hakainde Hichilema has been inaugurated for a second term in Zambia amid allegations of election rigging and the detention of his main rival, Brian Mundubile, who faces treason charges. Hichilema received 60 percent of the vote, while Mundubile secured 38 percent but claims the election was unfair. Following the election, police raided Mundubile’s home, resulting in the death of a former cabinet member, and have since arrested numerous opposition figures. Hichilema pledged to continue improving Zambia’s economy during his inauguration ceremony, attended by international leaders.
