Incident Involving Christopher Millen

Christopher Millen arrived at a woman’s house in Waihī to collect a $20 debt, armed with a hidden machete, which he used to injure another man during a confrontation. After fleeing and hiding in the Athenree Gorge for five months, where he acquired a firearm and set up a camouflaged campsite, he was eventually apprehended by police in August 2024.
