On Thursday evening, multiple shots were heard at Universal Ostrich Farms in Edgewood, B.C., coinciding with the Supreme Court of Canada’s decision not to hear an appeal against a cull ordered by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) due to avian flu. Reporters observed the CFIA herding 300 to 330 ostriches for the cull while supporters outside protested, shouting “Stop!” and “Murderers!” as the operation commenced. Field lights illuminated the enclosure where the cull was taking place, and a drone was spotted overhead. CBC News is seeking further information from the CFIA.
