Authorities from multiple agencies were called to the Angeles National Forest on Wednesday morning following reports of a potential kidnapping, which ultimately led to the airlifting of a victim with gunshot wounds to a hospital.
The Los Angeles Police Department responded to the scene at around 7 a.m. after receiving reports of a “possible kidnap” in the 14800 block of Little Tujunga Canyon Road, according to LAPD spokesperson Charles Miller.
“The victim was eventually found with his vehicle and was airlifted to a hospital with gunshot wounds,” Miller stated. He mentioned that the police were maintaining the crime scene as of 11:30 a.m.
Initially, fire officials were summoned to respond to a reported traffic collision, with a vehicle located on the shoulder or an embankment, as per Los Angeles Fire Department spokesperson Brian Humphrey.
“Our interaction with the patient occurred on federal land,” he explained. “There is a possibility of a crime being involved in this incident.”
“We transported the patient via LAFD helicopter to a regional trauma center,” Humphrey added.
This is an ongoing situation and further updates will be provided.
