In a rare attack targeting the judiciary, a man fatally shot two prominent hard-line judges in Iran’s capital, resulting in the deaths of clerics Mohammad Mogheiseh and Ali Razini, with one judge’s bodyguard also wounded. The gunman, who later killed himself, targeted the judges known for prosecuting and giving harsh sentences to activists over the past decades, with Razini having survived a failed assassination attempt in 1999.
