Guatemala’s Volcano of Fire has erupted, prompting the evacuation of nearly 300 families with a potential risk to 30,000 more people. The 12,300-foot high volcano is one of Central America’s most active, located 33 miles from the capital. The eruption, which began overnight, has not yet caused any reported casualties, but the flow of volcanic material is expected to increase according to Guatemala’s disaster agency.
