Grove of giant sequoia trees burns in California’s Sierra National Forest

A lightning-sparked wildfire, known as the Garnet Fire, has threatened ancient sequoias in California’s Sierra National Forest, with flames reaching the canopies of trees estimated to be 3,000 years old. Firefighters are implementing protective measures while the blaze has scorched 85 square miles and is only 14% contained as of Tuesday.
