A 5-year-old bear, Grizzly No. 1058, part of a famous grizzly family in Wyoming’s Grand Teton National Park, was killed by a vehicle, mirroring the fate of his mother, Grizzly No. 399, who died in October 2022. The bear was discovered near Highway 26, having not been sighted this spring, and may have been dead for several days. Wildlife officials highlighted the importance of driver vigilance in national parks, noting that between 2009 and 2023, 49 grizzly bears died due to vehicle collisions.
