Greenland PM declines Trump’s proposal for hospital ship

Greenland’s Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen publicly rejected President Trump’s proposal to send a U.S. hospital ship to the territory, emphasizing that Greenland has a free public healthcare system. In a pointed Facebook post, he urged Trump to engage in direct dialogue rather than making “random” social media statements about Greenland’s future. Trump’s suggestion followed his discussions with Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry regarding Arctic security amid threats from Russia and China. The U.S. Navy operates two hospital ships, but they are currently undergoing repairs in Alabama.
