On May 21, the Great Southern community is invited to wear orange for Wear Orange Wednesday, honoring local State Emergency Service (SES) volunteers and their families for their dedicated service during adverse conditions. Superintendent Wayne Green emphasized the vital role SES volunteers play, having responded to 233 incidents over 2021 hours, including severe weather events and rescues. This appreciation day serves as a small token for their unwavering commitment to community safety, regardless of the challenges faced.
