The German defense ministry announced that Denmark and the Netherlands are currently in discussions regarding financial support for IAAD. The ministry also stated that several other partners are considering providing systems or resources for the initiative.
Despite facing criticism for not donating Taurus cruise missiles to Kyiv, the German government has focused on increasing provisions for air defense systems.
In March, Berlin confirmed a €1.3 billion order for four new Patriot surface-to-air missile systems, in part to replace the two systems already sent to Kyiv. Recently, Germany pledged a third Patriot system, and there are reports that Berlin is considering placing another order with Raytheon.
Following the example set by the Czech Republic, Berlin is seeking financial pledges through the IAAD initiative to collectively fund the purchase of artillery ammunition for Ukraine.
The ammunition program has already generated hundreds of millions of euros, with Germany, Denmark, and the Netherlands being significant contributors.
In recent weeks, Russia has demonstrated its artillery superiority through a series of bombardments on Ukrainian cities.
