German government calls recognition of Palestinian state ‘counterproductive’

Berlin currently has no plans to recognize a Palestinian state, as doing so could hinder efforts for a negotiated two-state solution with Israel, according to a government spokesman. Several countries, including Australia, the UK, France, and Canada, have indicated they might recognize Palestine under different conditions.
