In July 2018, the body of commercial real estate attorney Gary Farris was found on a burn pile in Cherokee County, Georgia, leading to a homicide investigation that implicated his wife Melody and son Scott. Tensions within the family surfaced during the investigation, with Melody arrested for Gary’s murder in June 2019 and later convicted in November 2024, despite her claims of innocence and accusations against Scott. Both Melody and Scott maintain their innocence, each blaming the other for Gary Farris’s death, with Melody asserting Scott wanted the farm for himself.
