Hundreds of pupils at Cardinal Hume Catholic School in Gateshead were placed in lockdown after receiving a threatening email, prompting a police report of “malicious communications” and voluntary lockdown as a precautionary measure. Northumbria Police are investigating the threats and offering reassurance to the public, while schools in the area have taken precautions to ensure safety. The emails are not believed to be linked to other recent threats in Birmingham, with Cardinal Hume School advising parents to avoid the area to prevent potential danger.
