Britain’s gas storage levels ‘concerningly low’ after extreme cold, says British Gas owner

The UK’s gas stores are at a “concerningly low” level due to increased demand from freezing temperatures, with less than a week’s worth of gas left in storage, 26% lower than last year. The end of Russian gas pipeline supplies and low storage capacity have contributed to the strain on gas supplies, with Rough gas storage site supplying a significant portion of the country’s gas needs. Despite efforts to increase storage capacity, high gas prices and early winter onset have made it challenging to replenish supplies over Christmas.
