Several King Cobra gang members, aged between 28 and 58, were charged with displaying prohibited gang patches after a social media post revealed them wearing banned insignia outside the Auckland High Court. Detective Inspector Glenn Baldwin emphasized the illegality of publicly showing gang patches under new legislation, with violators facing a $5000 fine or up to six months in prison. Search warrants executed in Auckland and Waikato also led to additional charges for drugs and firearms found at several properties.
