SINGAPORE: Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong announced that the US is open to exploring “creative solutions” regarding critical exports from Singapore, like pharmaceuticals, amid discussions on tariff concessions initiated by the Trump administration. In a recent call with US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, Mr. Gan emphasized Singapore’s role as a trusted trading partner, despite a 10% baseline tariff that took effect on April 5. The talks also addressed concerns over artificial intelligence chips, highlighting the importance of continued access to this technology for Singapore’s data centers.
