FSU shooting: Sheriff’s office speaks about suspect’s past, deputy stepmother

Deputy Jessica Ikner of the Leon County Sheriff’s Office has taken personal leave to process the situation involving her stepson, Phoenix Ikner, who is the suspect in a shooting at Florida State University that left two dead and six injured. Phoenix, 20, had access to one of his stepmother’s weapons, which was found at the scene. The Leon County Sheriff’s Office is cooperating with the ongoing investigation, expressing condolences for the victims while acknowledging Deputy Ikner’s 18-year service and recognition as Employee of the Month in March 2024.
