FSU Athletics ends contract with Legends for concessions and hospitality

Florida State University (FSU) has terminated its multimedia rights partnership with Legends, just two years after its announcement in 2024. The university plans to replace Legends with Aramark, a company based in Philadelphia that specializes in food services and facilities management. This decision was confirmed by FSU officials on June 19, following a history of operational challenges at concession stands, which have drawn criticism from fans for long lines and poor service. Legends, co-founded by Jerry Jones, had significantly expanded its role with FSU after being engaged by Seminole Boosters Inc. in 2019, overseeing various aspects such as multimedia rights and hospitality. Despite the change in partners, FSU’s athletic department reported strong financial results, including increased revenues from ticket sales and concessions.

Why It Matters

The shift from Legends to Aramark marks a significant change in FSU’s approach to managing its athletic services, particularly in response to fan feedback regarding concession operations. FSU reported a record $22.835 million in ticket revenue and a rise in game-day spending, indicating a robust financial strategy. The previous partnership with Legends aimed to enhance commercial opportunities within a competitive collegiate sports landscape, reflecting ongoing trends in sports management where universities seek to optimize revenue amidst evolving market conditions. The successful sale of season tickets and merchandise further underscores the importance of effective management in maximizing athletic department revenues.
