Frustration as ‘proven’ water project stalls

The Hekeao/Hinds Water Enhancement Trust (HHWET) has faced delays in expanding its environmental project due to red tape, despite its proven benefits. The project, aimed at improving river and groundwater quality, has been stalled for nearly two years, with resource consent applications now heading to a hearing in October. Despite being New Zealand’s largest managed groundwater rehabilitation project, further expansion is currently on hold.
