Tulip Siddiq has resigned as the government’s anti-corruption minister due to controversy over her links to her aunt, former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Allegations of involvement in brokering a deal with Russia for a nuclear power plant and scrutiny over property use have led to her resignation. Labour MP Siddiq, a close ally of Keir Starmer, stepped down following an investigation by Sir Laurie Magnus, the independent adviser on ministerial standards.
