France Sports Minister Responds to World Cup Boycott Calls
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

France’s Sports Minister Marina Ferrari stated that the country has “no desire” to boycott the 2026 FIFA World Cup, despite political calls for such action in response to the U.S.’s recent territorial claims over parts of Greenland. Far-left politician Éric Coquerel criticized the U.S.’s actions, questioning the appropriateness of holding the World Cup there. Meanwhile, Trump announced a framework deal regarding Greenland, asserting it would benefit the U.S. and NATO nations. The IOC has previously ruled out penalties against the U.S. for its foreign policies, emphasizing a separation between sports and politics.
