Ghana announces squad for World Cup, includes former Arsenal midfielder Partey

Ghanaian footballer Thomas Partey, currently with Villarreal after his transfer from Arsenal in 2025, has pleaded not guilty to seven counts of rape and one count of sexual assault in the UK. The charges, stemming from allegations by four women between 2020 and 2022, will see Partey stand trial next year. Despite the legal issues, he has been named in Ghana’s preliminary squad for the upcoming World Cup, where the team will compete in Group L against Croatia, England, and Panama.
