What You Need to Know
• Ford Motor Company is recalling over 177,000 vehicles due to three distinct defects.
• The recall includes 67,842 Mustang vehicles for windshield wiper malfunctions in cold temperatures.
• Additionally, 66,383 Lincoln Nautilus Hybrid and Explorer Hybrid vehicles are recalled for software errors affecting pedestrian warning sounds.

Ford Motor Company is recalling more than 177,000 vehicles due to three separate defects, as announced by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The recall affects 67,842 Mustang vehicles from the 2024-26 and 2025-26 model years, which may experience windshield wiper and washing system malfunctions in cold weather. Furthermore, 42,784 Mustang Mach E vehicles from the 2021-23 model years are included due to a risk of pinion shaft fractures, potentially causing loss of drive power. Lastly, 66,383 Lincoln Nautilus Hybrid and Explorer Hybrid vehicles from the 2024-27 and 2025-27 model years, respectively, are being recalled for a software issue that may prevent them from producing a necessary pedestrian warning sound. Vehicle owners will receive notification letters this month regarding these safety risks.

Why It Matters

This recall highlights ongoing safety concerns within Ford Motor Company, which has faced multiple recalls in recent months. In late June, Ford recalled over 741,000 vehicles due to a faulty park system that could lead to unintended vehicle movement. The current recalls reflect the company’s commitment to addressing safety issues and ensuring consumer protection. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration continues to monitor such recalls to maintain vehicle safety standards across the automotive industry.
