Ford recalls over 179,000 vehicles due to front seat issue

Ford is recalling more than 179,000 vehicles due to a potential safety issue with front seat height-adjust pivot link bolts that may loosen or dislodge, increasing the risk of injury in a crash. The recall affects 117,443 Ford Bronco SUVs and 62,255 Ford Ranger pickup trucks, all from model years 2024 to 2026. Affected vehicle owners will receive notifications by mail and are instructed to take their vehicles to a Ford or Lincoln dealer for inspection and necessary repairs at no cost. Initial recall letters are expected to be sent between May 11 and May 15, with follow-up letters confirming the availability of fixes anticipated between July 13 and July 17. This recall follows another significant recall from Ford last month involving nearly 1.4 million F-150 pickup trucks due to a gearshift problem that raised crash risks.

Why It Matters

Vehicle recalls are critical for consumer safety, as they address potential hazards that could lead to serious injuries or fatalities. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) closely monitors such issues, highlighting the importance of vehicle safety standards. Ford’s proactive approach in notifying affected customers and providing free inspections and repairs underscores the company’s commitment to safety. Recalls can also impact consumer confidence and brand reputation, making it essential for manufacturers to manage them effectively, particularly in light of previous recalls involving millions of vehicles for various safety concerns.
