A 52-year-old roofer, John McDonald, led police on a 12-minute high-speed chase in Birmingham, reaching speeds of 70mph before colliding with Suzanne Cherry, a golfer, who later died from her injuries. During the pursuit, McDonald drove recklessly, hitting a police car multiple times. He, along with two accomplices, also admitted to defrauding elderly victims by charging for unnecessary roofing work. McDonald has pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving and awaits sentencing.
