Dame Stella Rimington, the first female Director General of MI5, has passed away at 90, as announced by her family. Starting her career as a typist, she led significant counter-terrorism efforts and inspired the character M in the James Bond films, later becoming a successful author with her memoir ‘Open Secret’ and a series of novels featuring MI5 agent Liz Carlyle.
