Man Dies While Attempting to Rescue Teenager from Sea

Mark Ratcliffe, a 67-year-old man, tragically died while attempting to rescue a teenage girl who was swept away in rough seas at Withernsea on January 2. His family described him as a “selfless hero” and a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. A 45-year-old woman’s body was also recovered, while searches for a third missing person are ongoing, with police presence increased in the area. The circumstances surrounding the deaths are not considered suspicious.
