Fire rages after major blast at Iran port kills 14, injures 750

A massive explosion at Shahid Rajaee Port, Iran’s largest commercial port, occurred on Saturday, resulting in 14 deaths and 750 injuries, with authorities suspecting a fire at a hazardous materials storage depot as the cause. The blast was powerful enough to be felt 50 kilometers away, leading to the closure of schools and offices in the nearby city of Bandar Abbas to facilitate emergency response efforts. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian ordered an investigation, while local emergency services reported extensive damage and ongoing firefighting efforts complicated by strong winds.
