A garage fire near Timaru has prompted a response from two fire appliances and a tanker, with the blaze threatening a nearby house. The fire was reported just after 11:05 am, and fire crews have been on the scene for about 25 minutes. Guardian managing editor Daryl Holden was the first to arrive, noting that everyone was safe.
