Kristine Santos-Asuncion, the chairperson of the Filipino Dairy Workers’ New Zealand in Rakaia, is advocating for the Government to recognize the valuable contributions that migrant workers, particularly Filipinos, bring to places like Mid Canterbury. With approximately 4000 Filipinos now residing in the Ashburton District, they are playing a significant role in shaping the region and are employed in various local industries. Santos-Asuncion emphasizes the importance of understanding and appreciating the impact that these migrant workers have on the community.
