Fight between bald eagle and Canada goose in Burlington bay ‘very symbolic,’ says photographer

During a family hike at LaSalle Marina in Burlington, Ont., retired airline captain Mervyn Sequeira witnessed and photographed a 20-minute battle between a bald eagle and a sick Canada goose on an icy bay. The eagle made several attempts to attack the goose but eventually gave up and left, sparing the goose. Sequeira found the encounter symbolic, emphasizing that nature works in balancing numbers and taking out the sick, while also reflecting on the current strained relationship between Canada and the U.S. due to recent trade disputes.
