Concerns Rise Over Possible Massacre in Sudan’s el-Obeid

The UN Human Rights Council will hold an urgent debate on the escalating crisis in el-Obeid, Sudan, where the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) are tightening their siege, threatening the safety of approximately 500,000 civilians. The city, a crucial military stronghold and key supply route, faces soaring food prices and deteriorating infrastructure due to RSF attacks on civilian targets. A coalition of NGOs is calling for an immediate humanitarian truce as fears grow of large-scale atrocities similar to those in el-Fasher.
