FCC fines political consultant $6 million for deepfake robocalls

The FCC has issued a $6 million fine against political consultant Steve Kramer for illegal robocalls using deepfake AI technology and caller ID spoofing during the New Hampshire primaries. Kramer has 30 days to pay the fine or the Department of Justice will handle collection, as stated by the FCC. Kramer violated the Truth in Caller ID Act of 2009, which prohibits knowingly using misleading information in caller ID.
