A Massachusetts family of four, the Goldsteins, was found dead in their New Hampshire lake house on Christmas Day due to a suspected carbon monoxide leak. The victims included parents Matthew and Lyla, and their daughters Valerie, a teacher, and Violet, a student. The propane heating system in the vacation home malfunctioned, leading to high levels of carbon monoxide, with no detectors found in the house.
