Facebook Is Just Craigslist Now

Facebook Marketplace has become the dominant feature on the social media platform, attracting 1.2 billion monthly active buyers by 2023 and surpassing eBay in peer-to-peer selling. A significant portion of Facebook’s users, around 16 percent, now use the site exclusively for Marketplace. The shift to a digital bazaar has accelerated due to pandemic-related disruptions, leading to a transformation of Facebook’s function from a social connector to a platform focused on facilitating transactions.
