The FA cited concerns about competition integrity, fixture congestion, and player welfare, ultimately rejecting the request from the Football Association of Wales. The FAW had hoped the re-launched competition would bring a financial windfall and help improve Welsh football as part of their Prosiect Cymru initiative to enhance their UEFA coefficient.
