Former Proud Boys national leader Enrique Tarrio was arrested near the U.S. Capitol for assaulting a woman protesting a gathering attended by him and others pardoned for crimes related to the Jan. 6, 2021, riot. Capitol police witnessed Tarrio striking the protester’s phone and arm after she got close to him, leading to his arrest for simple assault. Tarrio, previously serving a 22-year sentence for seditious conspiracy, was granted clemency by President Trump along with others involved in the Capitol riot.
