The European Union is planning to expand its sanctions against Russia by targeting 80 additional entities and individuals linked to the country’s military industrial complex and human rights violations, aiming to intensify economic pressure amid ongoing conflict in Ukraine. EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas emphasized that these sanctions are part of efforts to undermine Russia’s war economy, which has already suffered losses estimated between $1.2 and $1.5 trillion. Meanwhile, Russia continues to launch attacks in Ukraine, resulting in civilian casualties.
