EU Considers Drone System to Secure Airspace from Russia

The European Commission is advancing a counter-drone initiative as part of the ‘European Drone Defence Initiative’ to enhance EU airspace security against Russian incursions, aiming for initial capability by the end of 2026 and full operation by the end of 2027. This project is a response to recent drone violations reported across various EU and NATO member states amid ongoing tensions related to the war in Ukraine.
