German tourist rape trial: Accused questioned about CCTV evidence

A man accused of being involved in the group rape of a German backpacker on New Year’s Day last year initially claimed he was asleep during the incident. However, his defense weakened after police presented video evidence. The defendant, identified only as S due to name suppression, is currently on trial in the High Court in Auckland alongside two others, with jurors viewing recorded police interviews from early January.
