Éric Bruneau in ‘Dusk for a Hitman’ Quebecois Crime Thriller Trailer

“Your brother is no to be trusted, Donald.” “It’s him or me.” Saban Films has revealed an official trailer for Dusk for a Hitman, a Quebecois crime thriller arriving in the US to watch on VOD starting in April. This already premiered and originally opened in Canada last year obviously. Set in the late 1970s, the most feared hitman in the Montreal underworld, Donald Lavoie, found himself hunted down by his former accomplices and by a tenacious police officer. Donald finds himself caught in a tightening vise in this film based loosely on a true story. The Montreal crime thriller stars Éric Bruneau as Donald Lavoie, with Benoît Gouin, Rose-Marie Perreault, Sylvain Marcel, Simon Landry-Desy, and Joakim Robillard. This has such an obvious slick and cheesy look and feel to it, even with this guy’s mustache being an important part of the performance. It’s worth a look if you’re into French Canadian cinema and/or films about hitmen on the run.

Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Raymond St-Jean’s film Dusk For a Hitman, from YouTube:

Hitman Donald Lavoie (Éric Bruneau) faces an impossible order: eliminate his own family for mob boss Claude Dubois. Detectives offer him a way out by making him their informant, which puts Donald in a perilous balancing act between loyalty and survival. Hunted by the Dubois clan on one side and Burns’ investigators on the other, he finds himself caught in a tightening vise. Dusk For a Hitman, also known as Crépuscule Pour un Tueur in French, is directed by Quebecois filmmaker Raymond St-Jean, director of the film Cabaret Neiges Noires, and many docs including A Chair Fit for an Angel and Louise Lecavalier: Sur son Cheval de Feu, plus many other short films. The screenplay is written by Martin Girard & Raymond St-Jean. Produced by Paul Cadieux, Louis Laverdière, & Michel Ouellette. This premiered at 2023 Rendez-vous Québec Cinéma, before opening in Canadian theaters last March. Saban Films will debut Raymond St- Jean’s Dusk For a Hitman direct-to-VOD to watch in the US starting April 19th, 2024. Who’s interested?
