An asylum seeker, Hadush Gerberslasie Kebatu, who was convicted for sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl and a woman, was mistakenly released from HMP Chelmsford after only four weeks of imprisonment. The incident, attributed to human error, has prompted a major manhunt and an investigation ordered by Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy, who expressed outrage at the situation.
