The Trump administration paid $6 million to transfer alleged Venezuelan gang members facing deportation from the U.S. to El Salvador’s Terrorism Confinement Center, a harsh prison created by President Nayib Bukele to fight crime. The facility can hold up to 40,000 inmates and offers no visitation, recreation, or educational programs. El Salvador holds 110,000 prisoners, and human rights organizations have accused authorities of human rights violations, including abuse, torture, and lack of medical attention.
