Joaquin Guzman Lopez, son of drug lord Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman, pleaded guilty to drug trafficking and organized crime in a Chicago court, reversing his not guilty plea. He faces a minimum of 10 years in prison, and as part of a plea deal, he will cooperate with prosecutors and pay an $80 million charge. Guzman Lopez admitted to advancing cartel operations through bribery and violence, and is involved in a faction of the Sinaloa Cartel. His brother, Ovidio, also pleaded guilty, while their father is serving a life sentence in the U.S.
