A massive explosion at Shahid Rajaee Port in Iran on Saturday resulted in at least 18 deaths and 800 injuries, with the blast likely caused by a fire at a hazardous materials storage area. The explosion, which was felt up to 50 kilometers away, involved sodium perchlorate, a missile fuel ingredient, and caused significant damage to port facilities. In response to the disaster, Iranian authorities, including President Masoud Pezeshkian, have initiated an investigation and mobilized emergency resources while closing schools and offices in the surrounding area.
