Eight dead and over 30 missing after landslide in Chongqing

A landslide in Chongqing’s Pengshui county has killed eight people, left 34 missing, and forced over 1,100 residents to evacuate. Rescuers are working to locate those unaccounted for while ten individuals have been rescued, two of whom are seriously injured. Authorities have cut off utilities in the area and dispatched more than 8,000 disaster relief items. The government has allocated 50 million yuan for ongoing rescue and relief efforts.
