The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) announced its trial of facial-recognition-enabled bodycams from Axon Enterprise, becoming the world’s first police force to do so. Acting Supt. Kurt Martin emphasized that the technology will not replace human oversight, as officers will verify matches identified by the software. Up to 50 officers will begin using these cameras to enhance safety and efficiency while respecting privacy.
